gif's not patented

Hi CVS folks,

http://www.nongnu.org/cvs/ has the common text "no gifs due to patent
problems" next to the GNU head.  Since the gif patents expired, it
should probably be removed or changed.  (We added a brief note to the
top of http://gnu.org/philosophy/gif.html.)

Actually, I'm under the impression that CVS is not an official GNU
package now, in which case using the image of the GNU head in the first
place seems misleading?
