Hi Martin,

This topic has some history that I've referenced for you.

As far as I can tell multiple proposals I made back in
April & May 2004 are stalled for lack of a consensus.
At that time Derek Price, Larry Jones & Jim Hyslop were
commenting.

The topic came up again in September 2004 discussing all
the Windows build warnings.  Derek Price & Mark Baushke
commented at that time.  I haven't followed up on
September 2004 discussion.

As far as I can tell the GNU BUG CVS archive is pretty
complete.  If any messages in the various thread are
missing I can republish them if so requested.
