  Yah, cvs adds a newline to the last line if it doesn't have one (in
prepare_text_end()) sometimes, which diff doesn't do (and doesn't
expect.)  As I said, it looks like the right thing would be to undo 
that rather than mucking about within the diff code, but I've no 
understanding of how much complexity that would add or how to go 
about it.
