Ideally, this would have also output the package it belongs to ...
getconf is not maintained by the GNU coreutils project.

On my openSUSE:Tumbleweed system, I see that it belongs to the glibc folks:

  $ rpm -qf /usr/bin/getconf
  glibc-2.26-1.1.x86_64

Thus, I'm closing this issue here in our bug tracker.
