By the way, I had to go digging to see what you were replying to. The
original thread that you quoted, without any In-Reply-To field, and
without attribution to Donald J. Axel or Paul Eggert, dated from
4/25/2006; back then, utimensat did not exist. It would have been nice to
give just a bit more context to make it obvious that you were responding
to a 3-year-old thread. It is only with the recent POSIX 2008 addition of
utimensat that we can support touching symlink timestamps, as well as full
nanosecond resolution.
