I am shortly going to try running 'make check' on about 10-12 platforms, but I have a few questions...

1. I should be able to get root access to all the build machines, but they are not my machines... how safe is running 'make check' as root?

2. I am expecting a number of failures. How should I report these? Post the entire 'make check' output, just the names of the failed tests, or something in-between? Is there other information (besides the build platform, obviously!) I should provide? I.e. to what extent will I have to chase down bugs myself (or should I post results first, and go from there)?

3. How important are the local-file-system tests? Running them will be more complicated if I have to find local drive space to build and run the tests (and will hurt my ability to automate the process).
