Coreutils-5.0 make check failed on Solaris

This is a report of the test failed when doing 'make check' for coreutils-5.0 
on Sun Solaris.
A relevant portion of output is below:

Details: coreutils-5.0.tar.gz downloaded from 
http://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/ with lynx;
unpacked with gunzip -c coreutils-5.0.tar.gz | gtar xf -
then cd to coreutils-5.0 , ./configure, ./make, ./make check
make didn't complain.
System info:
bash-2.03# uname -a
SunOS clinfo5.rockefeller.edu 5.8 Generic_108528-19 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2
bash-2.03# gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.3
