I'm not entirely sure what libnss_nis is used for (groups
configuration, perhaps) but it looks to me like it should just be
linking to libnsl in Linux.
On my system, when I link the cfengine binaries, they end up
dynamically linked against libnss_file too. Since these are the only
binaries which do so, I'm pretty sure it's not necessary.
Maybe ./configure can be instructed to look for the functions you
actually expect to come from libnss_nis in both places, rather than
just linking to libnss_nis if it finds it.
