Hi,

Recently the commit:

commit 2a50366ded329bfb39d387253450c9d5302c3503
Author: Robert Yang <address@hidden>
Date:   Tue Aug 14 12:22:35 2018 +0100

which was applied to master fixed the problem described in
https://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/2018-08/msg00193.html

It was reviewed, modified, approved and applied by Nick Clifton here:
https://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/2018-08/msg00273.html

Since it affects the release 2.31 (I had the issue when using the release
branch), can you please backport it to branch 2.31 as well ?
