Gcc was broken due to a back checkin: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=21070 Linker did complain, but it kept going and generated a bad output. I think linker should abort when there is reference in non-debug section to discarded section.
This sounds reasonable. Ideally the linker should continue to look for other errors so that it can report them (without reporting the same error message twice) and then refuse to produce an output file.
Would you like to submit a patch to do this ? Cheers Nick
