One more similar case when the parameter expansion is quoted:

bash --norc -in <<<$'"${_+$("\n")}"'
bash-5.2$ "${_+$("
bash: command substitution: line 2: unexpected EOF while looking for
matching `"'
> ")}"

bash --norc -in <<<$'"${_+$(:\n)}"'
bash-5.2$ "${_+$(:
bash: command substitution: line 3: unexpected EOF while looking for
matching `)'
> )}"
