The `C' is the result of how info renders @var, used to indicate meta-
syntactic variables (COMMAND is another).

In other formats, it would be more apparent that it's not a literal `C'
and that it's like the `COMMAND' that follows it. The typeset man page
would have it in italics; pdfs from the man page and info file would
have it in italics; the man page rendered for tty viewing would have it
underlined; the HTML man page would have it in italics; and so on.

Anyway, I've reordered the text a little bit to move the description
closer to the introduction.
