Ah, I see what happened.
gl_LOCK calls gl_PTHREAD_RWLOCK_RDLOCK_PREFER_WRITER directly without
AC_REQUIREing it or defining it in the same m4 source file, and it won't
trigger unless the system has pthread_rwlock_t. It's a moving target; the
version of this file in gnulib is different from the gettext-runtime
version.
