Hi Akim,
your argument holds for `install',
I see two (independent) differences. `install' is clearly a
required target in every Makefile. `install-info', however,
1) is a cygnus invention and never made it into the gnu standards.
Therefore I don't see that it has to be in every Makefile.
2) An install-info target is useless except in directories which
actually have either texinfo files or subdirectories. Therefore, why
put it everywhere?
I can do the transform thing, it's better than patching every automake
release. It feels like a kludge, though.
Thanks,
karl
