I'm not seeing it: 'S' and 's' both look normal to me.
As part of installing aplwrap, I put a copy of Freemono.ttf in
$INSTALLDIR/share/fonts and run fc-cache. If you don't already have
Freemono.ttf, this makes it available, but if you already have a
copy, whatever you already had may take precedence. The Freemono I
install is from GNU: freefont-ttf-20120503.zip, which I think is the
latest.
