Details:
In http://localhost:51516/merging.html it is written:
' Setup'
In order for data of two projects to be merged succesfully, both of the
projects need to have what is called a common ancestor. That means that going
back through the history of the projects, there must be a moment in time that
the data of the projects was the same. Usually this is accomplished by making
a copy of the main project. The main project remains as it is, and the copy of
that project becomes the "edited" project.
So, the setup is simple. Just take one project, and copy it to another one.
The data of these two projects is now capable to be merged later on, after
some changes have been made in the text.'
I think, this is one possibility of a common ancestor. In the project we have
been working a very common situation was that a new book is created on an
edited project, then exported and imported in the master one.
-> Change the helpfile to include this situation too, e.g.:
'... data of the projects was the same. This can be accomplished by
- making a copy of the main project. The main project remains as it is, and
the copy of that project becomes the "edited" project.
- exporting a file of one project and import it into the other one.
So, the setup is simple: Just take a copy of a project or export/import a
book and the data of these two projects is now capable to be merged later on,
after some changes have been made in the text.'
