Try:
axiom -nox
which will start Axiom without using the sman/pty interface.
You won't have hyperdoc or graphics connected to Axiom.
Hyperdoc and graphics can be run standalone.
sman ("superman") is task that uses pty to communicate between all
of the other processes.
