This is known problem. See:

There is currently no solution but the work-a-round is to
to compile all functions. This is the default in recent
versions of the Axoim distribution.

The following works::

  )set function compile on
  f(x) == simpson( y +-> y*x, 0, 1, 1.e-4, 1.e-4, 6, 10 )
  f(2)
