[Axiom-developer] Problems with compiler::link

The platform is Ubuntu Edgy Eft 6.10. I attempted to build a fresh checkout of build-improvements. It fails with the following error:

>/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lSM
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

SM is available on the system (/usr/lib/libSM.so.6  & /usr/lib/libSM.so.6.0.0)
