Camm,

see the book. xdvi (path)/axiom/mnt/linux/doc/book.dvi

i still have to clean up the sman setup, etc, so there are going to
be some changes for a little while. i'm also working on a MAC and BSD
port in the near term so they are probably of interest also. and i have
to bring the testcases back to life.

the standard axiom command does not yet use sman. i put it out for
testing purpose and to make sure i didn't break anything fundamental.
processwise it's a fundamental change. eventually the axiom shell
script will invoke sman rather than AXIOMsys.

i'll let you know when these tasks are reasonably complete.
without them i think it's not worth the effort to snapshot yet.

3) Can sman and/or graphics be invoked from within AXIOMsys, of must
sman be the master process? How does this interface with other
   frontends, eg. texmacs?

nope. sman sets up a set of sockets and manages communication between
subprocesses. AXIOMsys, graphics, hyperdoc, nagman, etc. The AXIOMsys
can either be run locally (-ihere) or in a separate window (-iw (?))
which can be controlled when sman is invoked. i'm working thru the
internals of sman to document it and, in fact, this will probably
be the first of the "internals.booklet" sections.
