Details:

I've observed that description of ft232r programmer pinouts in avrdude.conf.in
is wrong. It is
  
programmer
  id    = "ft232r";
  desc  = "FT232R Synchronous BitBang";
  type  = "ftdi_syncbb";
  connection_type = usb;
  miso  = 1;  # RxD
  sck   = 0;  # RTS
  mosi  = 2;  # TxD
  reset = 4;  # DTR
;

but should be

programmer
  id    = "ft232r";
  desc  = "FT232R Synchronous BitBang";
  type  = "ftdi_syncbb";
  connection_type = usb;
  miso  = 1;  # RxD
  sck   = 2;  # RTS
  mosi  = 0;  # TxD
  reset = 4;  # DTR
;

It's not so serious, but for me it took few hours to figure out, what's wrong
