Details:

Hi,

After upgrading WinXP from SP2 to SP3, everything worked fine
but Avrdude (5.4) which now generates protocol timeouts while
talking to the target.

It looks like the initial dialog with the target works, as it
does seem to get the device ID fine, but when trying to program
its flash, it either simply dies, or it aborts after a number
of timeout errors.

Note 1: setup was fine with SP2
2: with SP3, the programmer itself works fine from within
Studio using Atmel's programmer code, but not with Dude.
