Strange, i've never seen a problem when using Times-Roman, and converting
it to PDF, only D. E. Knuth's Computer Modern fonts are getting rendered
ugly.

I wouldn't want sans serif fonts for printed documentation, it's
really hard to read.  I wouldn't want serif fonts for online
documentation either, it's hard to read due to the relatively low
screen resolution.  That's another point for shipping an HTML version
as online docs, and a PDF one for people who'd like to print it.
