If you have only one test, you could always use check-local to
run whatever you want.
check_PROGRAMS = tst_parallel
check-local:
MP_TASKS_PER_NODE=4 MP_PROCS=4 poe ./tst_parallel
I don't find this very convenient when there is more test. I
generally prefer the extra shell script because it allows me to
run a single test easily.
