I have noticed that if someone 'boxes' a comment in the Makefile.am like -
####################################################################
## just a comment ##
####################################################################
The first and the last lines are carried through to the Makefile.in and the
Makefile.
The problem comes form line 152 of automake 1.7.4
my $IGNORE_PATTERN = '^\s*##([^#\n].*)?\n';
if it is changed to -
my $IGNORE_PATTERN = '^\s*##+([^#\n].*)?\n';
*
then the "feature" is fixed.
