Yep, that's the plan. And the most important is that we plan to use autoconf
--trace for AC_SUBST etc. Automake should no longer read configure.ac
etc. by itself. Also, see for instance Tim's posts: we are removing
the 2.13 compatiblity stuff that makes configure more fragile than with
stock 2.52.
