That's a symptom of an older copy of m4.  If you would upgrade m4 on that 
platform, versions 1.4.6 and later print the starting line of the failing 
construct, rather than the less-than-helpful NONE:0.  Autoconf currently 
recommends using GNU M4 1.4.8.
