I was not able to reproduce your problem.
btw I used:

$aclocal --version
aclocal (GNU automake) 1.7.3

$ autoconf --version
autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.57

Just running aclocal and autoconf after each other seemed to do the 
trick for me.
