I've set preview-auto-reveal to t, and it has a similar 
effect: single left-click open the preview, which closes 
automatically as soon as I left-click somewhere else. 
Right-click still leaves it open. The two clicks complement

That's a brilliant idea, useful for other purposes too! Now 
I have an indirect buffer on the side, where the previews 
are inactivated.
