[AUCTeX] Question on texmf.cnf / part II

Hi Mose, hi Ivan,
the reason why I asked is quite a simple one: the same way auctex depends on
the setting

file_line_error_style = t

other programs might depend on the "normal" texmf.cnf setting

file_line_error_style = f

and therefore I would expect side effects when changing the TeX default to
fulfill the requirements of auctex, from my point of view the suggestion to
modify the calling convention of auctex would be preferrable - as suggested.

By the way, given I'd like to put this into the global auctex settings rather
than in my local init file, is this something that ought to go into tex.el? If
so, could a friendly soul tell me the location and the format I would have to
use for auctex 11.87?

Many many thanks for your help,
take care

Dieter Jurzitza
