Yes, I've had a look. I would do
(put 'TeX-insert-backslash 'delete-selection t)
(put 'TeX-insert-punctuation 'delete-selection t)
even though `TeX-insert-punctuation' isn't bound to anything special
by default.
The other ones that need it already have the 'delete-selection
attribute set.
Also, I'm not sure, but would it make sense to get 'TeX-insert-sub-or-
superscript' to behave like `TeX-insert-braces'
when the mark is active?
The -braces command is convenient as is.
