Not really. But you can mouse-mark "nice function", type C-c C-f C-b,
then mouse-mark "select", type C-c C-f C-b... You can also make a
keyboard macro that uses M-@ C-u C-x C-x C-c C-f C-b to boldface a
single word. Or that uses C-u C-x C-x C-x C-f C-b to boldface the
current region.
Note that C-u C-x C-x is an Emacs-22 feature.
