AUC is short for Aalborg Universitets Center (or something like that),
which is the old name of the Aalborg university, or its computing
center.

It's where AUCTeX came into being originally.

The file containing \documentclass, most likely. What you run through
TeX when you want to compile the document. If a document is spread
across multiple files, only one file can usually be run through TeX or
LaTeX. That's the master file.
