Hm, yes, of course...

I'll try both.  But I'll have to do that for bibtex and makeindex
too.  And dvips also.  That's an added value from texi2dvi to map the
single -I to all these tools/variables.

It would be great if all the *-command had a common prefix that would
ease this.  Better yet: as for texi2dvi, a means to set a single
variable to be dispatched to all the adequate envvars.
